The story of Christmas cuts through the clamour and noise of polarizing politics, it disrupts the dispatches from foreign battlefields and redirects us from the downward spiral of unrest and violence in our own hearts. Christmas confronts us with exquisite beauty, perfect love and the possibility of peace between men.

Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name

The story of Christ's birth calls us to faith, compassion and joy in the simplest and most ordinary of moments and in the darkest of times. Because of Christmas, souls “feel their worth” and the “thrill of hope makes weary souls rejoice”.
